How we grow

Regenerative, stewardship agriculture

Our goal is to protect our small piece of the earth and the plant-supporting biology it contains, while fostering a sustainable farm ecology built on healthy, symbiotic relationships between all its parts.

Minimal tillage

We disturb the soil as little as possible and cultivate with hand tools, so the living web underground keeps working for the plants above it.

Cover crops & compost

Cover cropping and generous applications of compost and other natural sources of fertility feed the soil, not just the crop.

Habitat for helpers

We landscape for pollinators and predatory insects, letting nature handle pest pressure instead of reaching for a spray.

Greenhouse & field

A mix of field and greenhouse growing means fresh food from our farm in every season, not just summer.

What we grow

Ask us for a crop. Odds are, we grow it.

A wide variety of fruit and vegetables move through our fields and greenhouses over the year. Here's a taste of what you'll find at the stand and in a share:

Availability follows the seasons. Call ahead or stop by to see what's fresh this week.

Our story

From urban asphalt to country soil

Located along a busy road but in the heart of the pastoral Shenandoah Valley, we are a small family farm growing a wide variety of fruit and vegetable field and greenhouse crops year round without the use of pesticides or any other synthetic material.

We practice regenerative, or stewardship, agriculture: minimal tillage, hand-tool cultivation, cover cropping, generous applications of compost and other natural sources of fertility, and pollinator and predatory insect habitat landscaping. Our goal is to protect our small piece of the earth and the plant-supporting biology it contains while fostering a sustainable, overarching farm ecology characterized by healthy, symbiotic relationships between its various elements.

The results are made available to our farm-to-table restaurant, caterer, and natural food store customers in Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Charlottesville, and to you by way of a variety of flexible CSA programs. Additionally, we enjoy supporting neighborhood food banks and individual families in need, as well as providing interning opportunities.

We do all this to honor the One who led us from urban asphalt to country soil in 2008 in pursuit of this work, and in response to the call to love our neighbor as ourself.
